Synopsis:
In space, mankind finds an abundance of the unknown, and it is in the unknown that we find mankind’s most faithful and inexhaustible source of abject fear. Director Christian Alvart (Antibodies) brings the audience and TormentedFilms.com along for a ride into that unknown with two astronauts venturing into the furthest reaches of the galaxy. In the depths of their own ship, millions of miles from home, they find a shocking truth that neither one of them is prepared to face.
Lt. Payton (Dennis Quaid) and Corporal Bower (Ben Foster) wake up alone on a darkened vessel in a hyper sleep chamber, unaware of their mission or even who they are. Since only Bower is small enough to climb out of the chamber, Payton must maintain communication and offer guidance over the radio while Bower explores in the darkness, desperately searching for answers to the strange noises coming from the bowels of the ship.

They are not alone, as Bower quickly finds out. Instead of an empty ship, he finds a band of warrior like people with crude weapons and a real problem with leaving anyone alive on the ship. What they find is a shocking truth of something terrible that happened, and that the future of the human race could possibly rest on the shoulders of the only two men left on the ship. Can they solve the mystery before the evil that has taken the ship catches up with them, or will they succumb to the murderous savages within?
All we have to go on so far is the trailers that we’ve seen circulating the Internet, but if what we’re seeing is any indication of how good the movie is, Pandorum is going to be a smash hit. Dennis Quaid is one of my favorite actors, and it totally underrated. He’s perfect for a science fiction thriller role. After all, he’s got Enemy Mine and Innerspace to his credit. Of course, he’s a bit older than he was in those roles, and it seems that he uses that to his advantage here. Instead of coming across as old and irrelevant, he shows us that with age comes experience.

pandorum movie review and trailer
2004 SAG award winner Ben Foster plays opposite Quaid, and is quite visibly eager to prove himself, though no proof of his ability is necessary. A veteran of the horror genre with is performance as ‘the Stranger’ in 30 Days of Night, Foster brings a focused intensity to this role, which it looks like he needs. He’s the one crawling around the ship discovering who these people with primitive weapons are.
Pandorum looks like it’s going to be a great movie, though some have said the previews make it look like a sequel to Event Horizon or even a Dead Space remake. I don’t think so, but I can see the resemblance. Pardon me for gushing, but with talent like Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster holding this movie up, I just don’t see how it can be all that bad.
